Dear Alumnae and Friends of the Chorus,

My name is Sarah Thomas and I am thrilled to be serving as the President of the Chorus this year! I hail from Annandale, Virginia and am currently a third year pursuing a B.A in psychology and a Masters in Teaching for Special and Elementary Education. I joined VWC my first semester first year and have been in love with the chorus ever since. I have previously served on the Managing Board as Publicity Chair in 2016 and Concert Manager in 2017. I have made so many friendships and memories through VWC that know I will cherish forever. It is such an amazing group of talented and diverse of women who I am honored to serve.

As for the chorus’s plans for the semester, we started off by welcoming our New Girls! I am beyond excited to see all these ladies grow and become a part of chorus. We have a couple gigs coming up as well. These include singing the National Anthem at Basketball Games and performing at the Glee Club’s Singfest along with other groups from Grounds on Feb 17th, whose profits will benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

Something special the Chorus is looking forward to this semester is our Spring Tour, which is taking place March 3rd through the 8th. As a Chorus, we will be traveling up the East Coast, making stops in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and, finally New York City. I am especially looking forward to the Connections Sing-along on Saturday, March 3rd at 4 pm. We hope to see many of our alumnae there, and the chorus is excited to meet the amazing women who have come before us in VWC. Please check out our letter about our tour in this Newsletter to find out more information!

We will close out the semester with our Annual Spring Concert on April 7th at Westminster Presbyterian Church. We will be continuing our tradition of singing Downtown to publicize for our concert, which always a fun time. We would love it if you joined us in this celebration and we hope to see you all there!

I also wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support of the Chorus. We would not be the strong group we are today without the hard work, dedication, and encouragement of you all. If you would like to stay updated on what the Chorus is up to, please visit our new website or our Facebook page. We hope to see you all in the coming semester!

Sincerely,

Sarah Thomas
