From the Director

Greetings Alumnae, Parents, and Friends,

We have some exciting news! To kick off our 50th Anniversary celebration we are having a Rotunda Dinner after our second Candlelight Concert on December 2. The concert begins at 3:30 PM, followed by dinner in the Dome Room. If you are interested in attending please fill in this non-binding poll so we may get a preliminary count of interested alums, members, parents, and supporters: https://forms.gle/6GLnjSTr3HiiJr259. More details are forthcoming. Special appreciation to the following alums who are making this happen: Sarah Begeman, Chris Butler, Claudia Fletcher, Elizabeth Linsley, and Jennifer Richardson. Our Anniversary Year will culminate in a 50th Anniversary Concert and Reunion Weekend in Spring 2025. 

Our Annual Fund Drive will be conducted by email. You will receive several emails in September and October. Alums who graduated before 1989, please be aware that the Chorus receives no funding from the UVA Department of Music.  Please see that section of the newsletter for more information.

It has been a busy semester as I am filling in for the Fundraising Chair (former chair has a class conflict) and the Alumnae Relations Chair (former chair has a job conflict). September is especially busy since I am writing grant reports and also grant proposals. Fortunately, one of our members, Corrina Peachey, has been offering enormous help with MailChimp and in other areas, and I am extremely grateful. It is because of her that you are receiving this newsletter!

The Chorus sounds wonderful already and I can barely wait for us to share our exciting music with you.
