Letter from the Vice President: Caroline Massey

Hello all!

My name is Caroline Massey, and I am absolutely honored to be serving as this year’s Vice President of the Virginia Women’s Chorus. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am a current second year from South Hamilton, Massachusetts, majoring in American Studies and minoring in Studio Art. I originally joined chorus in my first semester at UVA and, ever since then, have felt incredibly lucky to know and be part of such an amazing group of young women. Last year, I had the privilege of serving on our Appointed Board as the chorus’ Historian. While I have loved photographing events and managing our social media, I cannot wait to see all that 2019 has in store for me as Vice President!

With the spring semester now in full swing, the Chorus has a number of exciting gigs, performances, and other events just around the corner. This past Sunday, February 10, we had the honor of performing the National Anthem at the women’s basketball game against Duke, in celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day. Our next performance will take place this Friday, February 15 at the Virginia Glee Club’s annual Singfest benefit concert, alongside a number of UVA’s best a cappella groups and the Glee Club themselves. More information on Singfest can be found here. Our other events for this semester will include Rehearsal Weekend, in which the chorus holds an extended rehearsal on a Saturday afternoon to learn new music and bond with one another, as well as our annual Spring Concert. This year’s concert will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 13 in Old Cabell Hall, and we hope to see some of you there!

With so much to look forward to, I am confident that Spring 2019 will prove to be yet another wonderful semester for the Virginia Women’s Chorus. Thank you all for your continued love and support of the Chorus, without which none of what we do would be possible, and I sincerely hope you’ll be able to join us at one of our upcoming performances!

VDubz love,

Caroline Massey
